Do you have pain and lack of range of motion? Has your quality of life been reduced or taken away? Are your therapists and doctors not giving you the results you want? If so you’ve found the right place, read on.
What is Medical Massage?
Medical massage addresses your muscle spasms, trigger points, locked muscles, muscle imbalances, facial imbalances. Any of these can reduce your range of motion in your joints. Neck, back, elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, knees, ankles, toes are all affected. Special techniques help me to unlock and restore your range of motion and melt your pain are effectively applied. You walk out with feelings of relief.
How is it different?
Mainstream massage usually can’t correct the issues in depth and layering to make your recovery. The therapists on staff are often under trained or under experienced. Medical Massage goes straight to the underlying issue to make fast corrections and rehabilitation. I’ll add to this by expressing that the psychological aspects of being injured almost nobody knows how to help! I also offer that experience. Mind and body have to be whole, otherwise, you’re not better yet.
How can I benefit?
Anyone can benefit from medical massage. Even young athletes and students! In fact, anyone that is doing long repetitious work on a daily basis and/or has been injured can seriously benefit! Trauma is something that the body responds to with compensation. These compensations can be painful and restrictive, plus lead to a confusing array of symptoms! Down the road, even more trouble is in store if your ignore your body.
How much does it cost?
$150 Per hour
What is a session like?
The pressures and techniques used in medical massage are more intense but carefully held from becoming overwhelming. This is done customized to your sensitivity. I coach people to breathe quite often. Breathing helps get you through any pains and responses of the body while we are working together. Deep tissue massage is also a useful term, but somewhat limiting in breadth and scope. I usually say Medical Massage is uncomfortable while its happening. Afterward you feel so much better!
How often do I come in?
Your frequency is usually dependent upon a few factors. How long has the injury or imbalance been there? If you’ve been dealing with it for years or even months you will want more sessions. What other treatments are you receiving? Crossing over modalities can shorten up recovery. Did you simply sleep on your neck wrong, or light sprain or strain? Slip on the ice or shovel too much? We will get it done in a session or two.
How often do people make surprise discoveries?
Surprise discoveries are when we find other interesting things during a session. For instance, your doctor was telling you arthritis, but after working it out together, it was muscular. Or “I thought my neck was the problem, but It was really my hip.” Or we find that old injury when you fell out of the tree when your were 7 years old. Or my feelings that I buried about my weight suddenly came up and my pain went away! Yes many such interesting things come out of medical massage sessions. I believe the reason is that I’m looking at layers of information that can include strong emotions, beliefs, traumas, p.t.s.d. based on any given persons experience. All of these potential experiences are met with my most compassion and care! The mind, body, spirit are intermingled and connected. This is how balance is achieved.
